GEN Z MENTAL health event @ FOUR SEASONS

Justyna Kedra and Deputy Borough President Ebony Young

The importance of the constant conversation around mental health is a no-brainer to me, but there is still a lack of action to solve for these critical issues across all generations. We’re trying to support each other and get those conversations going, so my hope was that Gen Z will be better equipped to deal with these issues, but we’re very far from seeing improvements.

According to McKinsey Health Institute, Gen Z faces unprecedented issues on the mental health front. One of four Gen Z study participants stated that their mental health has declined in the past year. Females have been twice as likely to report negative mental health trend. It’s a very hot topic that I personally hope we keep top of mind and continue to develop solutions for.

When I heard that Dime Inc (co-founded by Abby Huang and Marek Drozdowski) was organizing a night dedicated to Gen Z mental health I immediately agreed to be one of the guest speakers. I’ve been working with Parsons The New School for the past few years and see these statistics reflected in our students. They’re more isolated, lonely, have less social skills than my generation. They’re the brightest people I know capable of helping us solve all the world’s issues, but they also need our support to help to get them to the next level.
