MYTHERESA X FLAMINGO ESTATE
Justyna Kedra & Erika De La Cruz
Although I am not the most spontaneous person, I often say yes to spontaneous plans if someone close to me reaches out. When adventure calls my way and it happens to be on the chic side, I usually say yes. This is what happened this time. My dear friend Erika De La Cruz, who is the editor in chief of The La Girl invited me to spend a day-ish in The Hamptons. What an amazing journey (on so many levels)! Wish it lasted a bit longer, but there is always next time.
The Arrival & Accommodations: The Roundtree in Amagansett
Quick photoshoot before our driver arrived
The gorgeous view from our cottage
Erika and her team took care of the accommodations and, if you know anything about The Hamptons you know that booking everything last minute is not the best idea. They somehow lucked out and we got to experience the magical Roundtree Boutique Hotel in Amagansett (which is my FAVORITE - stayed there about 100x already). I’m not a big hotel snob, but this must be now one of the best places I’ve been to in the Hamptons. It’s not that it’s the most luxurious, it’s not.
First, before all the other shout outs I’d love to give my sincerest thank you to the staff. They are the sweetest, the most thoughtful and impressed me the most. We both felt taken care of in the most authentic way. It was almost as if we had our own team helping us. From finding vegetarian options for restaurants in East Hampton (we went to Cittanuova, but we were also considering my favorite Sant Ambroeus- DELICIOUS) to our emergency iron / steamer needs. They truly knocked it out of the park.
We also met one of the partners. She was very attentive and immediately instructed her team to help us with our suitcases and made sure we were taken care of. I think it’s true what they say that if the leadership is right, the whole team follows. At this place, it really shows.
We even got a whole tour of the property from Mica as we were interested if we’re able to book the whole property and if they have any kind of a kitchen. The answer is yes! You can either rent a bunch of rooms or a beautiful front room, which has a kitchen. They also offer a beach house, but there is a 2 week minimum to stay there.
My Love for Baccarat
If you know me, you know I LOVE the Baccarat Hotel in NYC. The fact that they collaborated with the Roundtree Hotel was just iconic to find out! Not only because of the design and decor, but because it’s a little bit more personal. My dad has been collecting Baccarat and Lalique crystal ever since I was a little girl and I love it as well. The Roundtree has a collaboration with them right now and they offer a package. You can book the Baccarat and Roundtree and experience the ultimate staycation / excursion to The Hamptons.
The Event: Bodyshop, But Make It Fashion
The Event Team with Melissa
The MyTheresa Wall Display
The event space was created by MyTheresa and Flamingo Estate (click here to learn more about the event and RSVP), but the event we went to was put together by Melissa Biggs Bradley from Indagare Travel and the author of “Safari Style: Exceptional African Camps and Lodges“. Melissa is a friend of Erika’s and they have traveled together in the past. I’ve heard the stories before, so it was great to put the name to the face.
Not many people in the US know what MyTheresa I or Flamingo Estate, so let me tell you a bit about both of them. MyTheresa is basically a Net-A-Porter, but based in Germany. They were basically they cool store where all the editors would go to get the sickest things that no one else had access to. I think they’re finally taking over the USA and just in time! On the other side of this collaboration is
The space was created by transforming old bodyshop that looked pretty basic from the street. Our driver basically missed it since we couldn’t see the glitter covered cars from far way. Ok— Let’s get real. Doesn’t sound very fashionable, right? Wrong.
Main room featuring a green Porsche
Flamingo's Estate Branding is stunning
The whole space was a bodyshop, but done in the most fashionable way ever. They had these giant oil cans (Sorry, ESL moment — see them in the Porsche photo just above) that they painted in the most gorgeous shades of sage-ish tones. There is a green Ferrari in the middle of the room (to match the monochromatic vibe of it. Sounds good, but is that it? Absolutely not. The place of tires and tools took the sickest pieces seen to man.
It was every designer, every sparkle, fabric and color you can imagine. All in the trendiest shades. All the pieces were basically stunning statement pieces, so they were all calling my name. The girl who worked for MyTheresa was kind enough to give us a mini tour and before she could finish Erika started screaming! She notices this woman (Melissa’s friend), who Erika calls the most chic older woman. And chic she was! She was giving me a more chill, quieter and more sophisticated version of Iris Apfel. We met her daughter, who also went to Parsons and we chatted for a while before the older women drove off in her iconic Bronco vibe vintage car. Their energy was contagious and I really hope we get to cross paths again.
Food I bought: Dark Rose Chocolate and Spicy Strawberries
The bodyshop also has a back room, which is themed in yellow and a side room, which is taken over by Flamingo Estate. I got some spicy strawberries and a bar of dark chocolate for my step dad, who loves chocolate and sweets, so let’s see if he likes this $80 miniature jar of spicy strawberries.
Conclusion:
Collaborations that make absolutely no sense sometimes do. Trust your creative team to come up with something unique and cool and I’m sure they will delver. We see so many super boring pop ups with the same themes being used over and over and over. Think outside of the box! I always say it takes the same amount of time and effort to put on something nice and to put on something ugly. Ideas are ideas, so don’t be afraid to use your brain.
