WERULE: Empowering Women Through Hosting and Events at Dumbo House

Celebrating Women's History Month with a Powerful Event

In March 2024, WERULE hosted an unforgettable event at the iconic Dumbo House to celebrate Women's History Month. This gathering brought together inspiring women from all walks of life to connect, collaborate, and empower one another. As a host, I learned valuable lessons about overcoming fear and creating a memorable experience.

As the founder of WERULE, a female-founded platform, I'm incredibly proud of the work we've accomplished. But when it comes to hosting events, my heart races, my palms sweat, and I find myself second-guessing every decision. I know that events are a crucial way to connect with our community and build a stronger brand, but the thought of being in the spotlight and responsible for the success of the event fills me with dread.

It's a strange paradox. I'm confident in my abilities to lead and inspire others, but when it comes to public speaking and hosting, I feel like a deer caught in headlights. I fear that I won't be engaging enough, that I'll make mistakes, or that people won't enjoy themselves.

5 Tips for Overcoming Fear and Hosting Successful Events

If you're considering hosting an event, but fear is holding you back, don't let it! Here are five tips to help you overcome your doubts and create a successful experience:

  1. Overcome Perfectionism: It's impossible to achieve perfection, so don't let the pursuit of it paralyze you. Embrace imperfections and focus on creating a meaningful experience.

  2. Ask for Help: Don't be afraid to delegate tasks and ask for help from friends and family. Delegating can lighten your load and allow you to focus on the bigger picture.

  3. Stay Organized: A well-organized event is less stressful. Use a planner or digital tool to keep track of tasks, deadlines, and guest lists.

  4. Push Your Boundaries: Step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. Challenging yourself can lead to personal growth and a more memorable event.

  5. Focus on the Bigger Picture: Remember why you're hosting the event in the first place. Focusing on the positive impact it will have on others can help you overcome fear.

Additional Tips:

  • Set Realistic Expectations: Don't set yourself up for disappointment by having unrealistic expectations.

  • Practice Self-Care: Take care of yourself during the planning process to avoid burnout.

  • Have Fun: Hosting an event should be enjoyable! Don't forget to have fun and enjoy the experience.
