MY LUCID DREAMS, INTRO

MY EXPERIENCE WITH LUCID DREAMING

Do you ever lucid dream? I've been doing it all the time ever since I was a little girl and now I want to take it to the next level. I want to master it through an experiment to take charge of my dreams and make that time productive. I’ve been reading a book on lucid dreaming and recommend it. It’s called Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Howard Rheingold.

My assumption is the following:

If I lucid dream every night, and I'm able to create a world on my own terms (I already have a recurring lucid dream, keep reading) then I'll be able to solve different business challenges, practice leadership, do public speaking, use my subconscious mind as a life coach of sorts. On top of this, I remember most of my dreams when I wake up and they are all hyper realistic (no fantasy world), so I'll record it and will be able to implement all these lessons, ideas and tactics in the "real world".

How Virgo of me, right? Some people use lucid dreams to fly to space, go sightseeing in Egypt, hang out with dinosaurs or fight with Darth Vader. All of which I think is really cool, but I wonder what happens when it's implemented in a more realistic & practical way. I want to run a whole company and live my dream life as a super, fulfilled, happy successful entrepreneur.

I HAVE A RECURRING LUCID DREAM

MY FAVORITE & RANDOM LUCID DREAMS

9/4

Today I had a lucid dream, but it was semi random and I didn't make much effort to change it a lot. Actually, I remembered a few dreams, but since I haven't done this before aka record it... I forgot all about it.

Dream 1:

I think this dream came from my before bed research on World Science Festival about subconsciousness & psychedelic research.

I was in a magic mushroom class with a friend. I realized it was a dream because I remembered that classes when you can trip in a group setting are not really a thing. The class was 20 people total, 10 on one side and 10 on the other. For some reason everyone attended a class with a friend and they gave you a comfy tanning / lounge chair each + every pair had a couch in case they needed a different space. The teacher / guide had the vibe of professor Trelawney from Harry Potter.

I remember she told us we can go outside, but since we were one level below the ground she specifically warned us to be very careful on the steps so we don't fall on our faces. The mushrooms were in a cup with water, which is gross & no one wanted to drink it, but I did and I chewed up the mushrooms.

For some reason they didn't work on me, but I was able to help out a friend through her experience. I remember going outside and meeting someone from my childhood and talking to them. It was sunny and the outside world looked like Poland where I grew up.

Dream 2:

This was post the trip experience. I realized it didn't work well for me, so I took my brother to a store where we picked up some mushrooms from a cabinet. Then the sales lady showed up and told us she has more in this other cabinet and explained to us the difference between the two. I apologized that we opened the cabinet without her permission, but she was super chill about it.

Here are my 3 tips for lucid dreaming

There are a million and one tips out there on how to lucid dream, but here are a few that worked very well for me. Try what works best for you and as we all know, not everyone is the same. Practice it until you are able to do it.

Have a dream journal

First of all, I don’t think that that many people remember their regular dreams to begin with.

Check in with yourself during the day

This is probably the easiest thing to do. When you are awake keep asking yourself if you’re awake. If you’re awake, acknowledge it. Once you practice this for days (or weeks for some) you’ll be able to repeat this when you are dreaming.

How many times? Preferably at least 20 times or like every hour or 30 minutes.

A good tip is to also leave yourself sticky notes everywhere that say “Am I dreaming?“ — this will give you little reminders throughout the day. You can also make your phone background say this exact same thing, so every time you look at your phone you do a quick check in.

Check your hands all the time

When you are dreaming nothing is really perfect, but our brain is trained to ignore it. In dreams we can’t really read or things are a little off. When you are awake look at your hands and ask yourself the same question from tip #2. Are you dreaming? Repeat that as many times as possible, so when you are lucid dreaming

You did it? WHat now?

First, don’t freak out and realize that anything is possible. Rules of physics do not exist. You can fly, you can be a billionaire, you can live in the jungle or on Mars… you can be a ghost or time travel. Anything is possible, so have fun with it, but remember that it can be used for productive purposes.

When you realize that you are lucid dreaming for the first time you find out that your brain will freak out and you often wake up. Stay calm and enjoy the ride.

This is very, very important: Be very careful with experimenting with this because I noticed that (similar to psychedelic experiences) there is not enough research on this. I’m doing this for my own research purposes, but you don’t know how your brain will react.
